Default 2560x1080 (21:9 Aspcect Ratio)

So bought a new screen today, with 21:9 aspect ratio on a resolution of 2560x1080, and I was expecting that the resolution gave a "wider" angle of vision, but from what I have tested so far, it just strecthes the wide side from 1920 up to 2560.

So I have more space to put UI elements while keeping a 1080p resolution scale, but the game image is the same but stretched.

Is that the normal work for all 21:9 aspect ratio monitor in EQ P99 (Using EQ Play Nice), or is it possible to make that the 21:9 actually lets you "see wider" screen instead of just stretched screen?

I will try to post some images later.

Thanks.

use the /viewport command, and arrange your UI in the deadspace?

There is no dead space. I adjusted the UI to fill the extra 640 pixels I had ( from to previous 1920 to the new 2560 pixels of wide of screen).

The problem is that I thought I would see a wider angle, because of a wider Aspect Ratio, so lets say that if in 1920 the angle of view was of 120 degree, with a 2560 maybe would expect a 150 degree, but it seems I just see the same 120 degree of vision, but stretched horizontaly to fill that extra 640 pixels (from old 1920 to the new 2560)

So thats basically the question, if that stretched view is how its supposed to be, or if there is a way to actually see wider, as in other games the aspect 21:9 does

I take an example from the internet:

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

As you see on the left, a 16:9 aspect ratio with 1920x1080 resolution, gives the same size for UI elements as the image on the right, which is 21:9 aspect ratio with 2560x1080, bu on right one, you actually see more portion of the map, a wider angle of vision.

I expected to see something like that on EQ, but what I see, is the same image as on that example left screen, but stretched to fill the full screen. So yes, I have more space for UI as the creen is literally larger and the UI elements are not stretched, but the image itself seems to be the same picture than on a 1920x1080, but just made wider to fill the screen size.

Any thoguhts? Thanks and sorry for the english, not native.

Ok, I get what you mean now.

I will play with that display option, but maybe dont get used to have the UI/Windows on the sides of the screen after such a long time of bottom low section for the windows time.

Well, will make some testings.

If someone have more ideas let me know please. Thanks.

eq doesn't support hor+ scaling

game was built around 4:3 aspect ratio - the further you deviate from this, the crappier your vertical field of view will be

ain't shit ya can do about it without client hacks

Thanks for the answer. If I had seen that post before ... would have saved me 800 dollars Lol

Well, I can return it, so not a big deal.

Its impressive how you actually see more of the screen in 4:3 than in 16:9 and even much more than in 21:9 - Weird.

I have been preaching this for 10 years and I've never had anyone believe me.
I'm not nuts!

the wider the viewport the more you crop the top and bottom of your view.
There is no widescreen EQ.
Use your width to make a 4:3 viewport and some deadspace for chat and inventory windows

This is very cool. I may have to try this out. I have a 25 inch 2k monitor and this may make it easier to play.
