Poison storm and envenomed breath stack?

Hey guys I just hit level 24 on my shaman on teal and im trying to decide which spells I should buy. Can you stack the AE poison DOT with the single target poison DOT on top of the disease DOT? That would be 3 DOT stacked at once which seems really good, but Im thinking maybe you can only have one type of poison DOT on the mob at a time.

Shamans are weird because you can stack every DoT you have, even the upgraded single target ones.

Poison Storm isn't an AOE DOT. It's a rain spell, meaning it does up to three direct damage hits on your target and others in close proximity (though it does fewer waves if it hits multiple targets). It doesn't apply a debuff to the target and thus couldn't possibly stack (or fail to stack) with anything. In general, though, your actual poison and disease DOTs do all stack with each other.

I just put envenomed breath and tainted breath on the same mob on green.

It isn't too relevant really because an older poison dot is about the same efficiency as a newer nuke. So it's not like it makes much sense to use it. I guess at VOTS+ebolt levels it is more efficient to stack VOTS than use blizzard blast. But that's pretty niche regardless.

When you tested this on blue how did you do it? I cast the higher-level dot first, and the lower-level one stuck also when cast 2nd.

I can't speak to how Blue is coded because I haven't played a shaman on Blue, but I am 100% certain that poison and disease DOTs stacked with different levels of the same line on Live. I can remember distinctly soloing the golems at the exit to OS in the high 50s on my shaman and using both Bane of Nife and Envenomed Bolt alongside Pox. Maybe it changed on Live (or Blue) at some much later point, but stacking downranked poison DOTs was always a part of shaman root rotting.

just duel your friend and have them report if the debuffs get overwritten or stack.
from what I can tell (lvl 20 sham atm) i put Affliction -> Sicken (higher spell -> lower spell) on a mob and the lower spell lands. Since there is no "does not take hold." message, I'm assuming they stack.

AoE dot Infectious Cloud does stack with Affliction and Breath lines.

21 right now and my solo regimen is pull with AoE, root, Affliction, Breath, med....Breath, Root med repeat
