Shaders were a lot better there than they ended up for years.

EQ was superior in 1996 in many ways.
Those moonwalking linkdeads. So classic.

The reason the shaders are so nice is because it's prob a hacked unreal engine type thing on a voodoo GFX card with all the extra voodo hax for the alpha engine.
Voodoo 3dFX Glide vs Directx, Glide was so much cooler. I know I owned a high end voodoo card b4 EQ came out and used it in one of the few games that supported the extra features. Fuck I wish I could time travel and have PC gaming take that route instead of directx The reason directx shaders sucked was because directx had to work on everything and sub-par cards. And it was microsofts baby they kept it fucking generic so they could mass market it to everything and everyone

All of those are 94 (Doom II) - 97 (Diablo), yeah.
Hexen was 95. Magical time to be a computer nerd. Crusader, Syndicate Wars, Daggerfall, and Fallout were some of my favorites.

If you're going to stare at a wall for 16 hours wouldn't this be the clear choice?
