The sad part is today's "Higher Education" primarily consists of conjuring imaginary boogeymen to pin the blame of all personal and societal ills on.

Public figures being scrutinized more, not less, benefits the public they are meant to represent, even when they don't represent them in an official capacity, as with Hawking.
Of all the criticism higher education deserves, and it's deserving of a lot, that isn't one of them.

Hawking was a catastrophist who was frequently wrong in almost every single one of his predictions. The only reason why he got the support from the establishment that he did was because he was furthering the catastrophist narrative.

Yes, Higgs boson being one of the most well-known. So we've read the same articles, but that itself amounts to less than making elaborate speculations that end up being incorrect. Also, if we're going to measure a man by his predictions, than let's include the elephant in the room.

I was a huge fan of your videos...

That's precisely the problem. The world needs less fans. It makes no sense to be emotionally invested in or defensive of any politician / celebrity / random youtuber other than on a basic human level of not wishing harm upon them.

Hawking is smart, but he has political biases like anyone else...

I don't presume to know how a brain more intelligent than mine operates. Awareness of bias, and of the unconscious, likely means that one is more capable of making pointed observations rather than purely subjective judgments.
