I don't think wonkie is a communist or arguing it's a superior system or that it's classicly relevant to today's world on a National scale.
I understand your fears about us trying to do what Venezuela or Cuba have done. I don't think I would endorse that level of systemic regulation of people's individual economic liberty.
I do want them to be safe and well educated and removed if necessary from the streets and put in a more structured environment until they can demonstrate an ability to self govern. But not everyone. Not automatically. And not based on some kinda arbitrary identity. But based on ability and sanity. There's gotta be some way to measure personal responsibility and stop people before drugs, suicide bombs, and mass shootings, or gang banging.
