Okay, I finally have EQ installed and launching after 3 days and a combination of methods suggested by different people.

Now I'm crashing on the character select screen when I try to log in to game. Any suggestions as to what is causing this?
Lots of people seem to be having this issue right now. I'm not sure it due to the mac client.

Great tutorial. Follow these steps and was up in running in no time. Had issues originally with it not running at all due to out of date wineskin but this fixed all my issues!

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
I did the same setup, but can't for the life of me figure out the fonts part.

I've installed core fonts through wine tricks, but where do they end up? Tried copying the fonts from user/library/fonts. The results are the same. I get to log in to the game, and tho the graphics seems fine all text is grainy and hard to read.

Anyone have any tips for the fonts part?

Thanks!

Okay, my crashing is fixed. I needed to download the older version of Winery referenced in the setup tutorial on Youtube (already mentioned on this thread).

As to fonts, when I set my window to 800 x 600 (so I could access the options menu to reset my movement keys), the text was incredibly hard to read. Reset it to standard monitor resolution and it was decipherable again. Installing core fonts worked with the older winery engine, but not with the newer version. Maybe check what version of winery you have?

Worked great for me. I followed the directions on page 29 and created a new wrapper, rather than downloading the first wrapper. MacBook Air running 10.8.5. I had things working on my PC first, so I just copied that directory over and made one resolution modification to the eqclient.ini file, rather than reinstalling from scratch.

Okay, I've been reading and I'm seeing a lot of solutions for Mavericks, but I'm running 10.7.5 (too lazy to look up which animal this is)

I've downloaded the original wrapper from the initial post. That one launches the app into my dock and then nothing. I followed those instructions to the letter.

I copied files from PC with v36 files.

Troubleshooting: I read that Wine is broken on 10.7.5 and downloaded the file referenced here: http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tik....php?postId=62
It opened and did nothing.

Has anyone found a working combination for 10.7.5?

4/25 1:45pm update: Still waiting for mods to approve my last post,
I've messed around with it and I was able to get it running up to the character select screen by upgrading to the most recent engine (WS9Wine1.7.29-Installer) Now, however it provides the message "Everquest has detected that your client has crashed" ... going to research and keep trying.

I have been playing on my old windows laptop with no problems game-wise. Unfortunately, the computer itself is starting to give me trouble, and I am considering trying to play on my new Macbook Pro.

For you people copying the files over, rather than installing from scratch, are you just copying over the "EQ" folder you installed to and that's it? or is there another batch of files somewhere you also needed?
