Have a bard/nec/sk follow you around or get a couple of chipped bone rods (one to recharge the other) and cast locate corpse on yourself in each zone until you find it.

No need to cast locate corpse in each zone. Can just type /corpse in a zone to find out if the corpse is indeed in said zone. "You dont have any corpses in this zone" "you are too far away....".
