America was 'Great' because we leveraged the power of being the global Hegemon to our financial benefit in the wake of most of our competition having completely destroyed industrial bases in WW2. That was and always has been the key to our success since we became a major world power. That shit doesn't happen in a vacuum.
To give up that position by embracing isolationism is to make your dream of 'Make America Great Again' even more of a fantasy. We don't need to maintain an army in Syria or anything, but we have to be smart about draw downs to not toss geopolitical advantage to our rivals, give birth to new terrorist movements and destroy our alliances. It could have been accomplished with an absolute skeleton force, if done smartly. This hasn't been that smart way. | ||

the only one that benefits from the occupation of middle eastern countries is israel and arms manufacturers, AIPAC is the worlds wealthiest lobby group and have both sides of the political aisle within the US under their influence
us "gaining" points with israel does nothing for the US strategically, if anything israel has been a terrible ally caught red handed committing espionage and even firing upon US forces with vague nonsensical explanations the lower class people in the US are economically pressured into joining the military because they are from zombie industrial towns with no oppurtunity and then are exploited to the exclusive benefit of foreign powers who then PAY our politicians essentially weaponizing poverty within the US in order to bring in more money to our political entities and their allies (contractors, defense industries like halliburton or lockheed martin) through lobbyist it's class warfare and disgusting, it's really obvious and the only people who don't acknowledge it are people who regurgitate shit they hear from talking heads in the media it isn't a partisan issue, both parties within the US are participating i won't even go into how it is also a form of wealth redistribution from the middle/lower class american tax payer to an oligarchal super rich few that own and participate within the arms and defense contracting industries | ||
