Default A fix for the mouselook x/y speed disparity

Have you ever been frustrated by mouselook moving quickly in one direction (up and down) and very slowly along another (left to right)? Well, I don't like it either. So, I put together a little fix for it. Enjoy. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

At the moment this tool only looks at your display resolution and not resolution of the game itself. So this will only be useful for those who play full-screen.

Code:
What is does:
-------------

This tool will correct the x/y axis disparity that exists when using
right-click to mouselook within the EverQuest client. It does this by
identifying the current aspect ratio of the display and accelerates mouse
movement along the x-axis based upon that ratio while the right mouse button is
being held down.

Why this problem exists:
------------------------

The origin of this bug exists from the original code calculating the variable
mouselook speed based upon the number of pixels along the width and height of
the display. Back when computer monitors were 4:3 (almost square), the
difference was negligible and probably had gone unnoticed. However, at any
widescreen resolution this problem becomes much more apparent.

How to close the tool:
----------------------

To close the tool simply right-click on the program's icon in your system
tray and choose "Exit" from the popup menu.

ChangeLog:

eqmousefix 1.0

I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but I fixed this by lowering the max framerate to something like 30 FPS and upped the mouse sensitivity.

If you don't notice a problem then you probably don't need to use this. Some people are more sensitive to these things than others.

The wider your screen the better. For example, set your game to something like 1980x1050 or 1366x768 and it will become more noticable.

Yeah. All you need to do is lower max framerate in the in-game options.

So, what would cause the mouse look and right clicking to malfunction.. It works it just relocates the pointer/view location..

This makes for very difficult movements and looting or opening the bank.

Any advise?

Hello Ropethunder,
could you please reupload your tool somewhere?
As I got exactly the same problem, and nothing from forced Vsync
to 3d party eqgame launchers (which are supposed to control FPS rates)
seems to work for me. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Default update

I could finally fix the problem with the video capture utility 'Dxtory',
which allows to force a fps rate on all directx windows.
(a 60 fps fixed framerate works for me on i-7/windows 7 64bit in 1900x1200) [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

MUCH EASIER! Just change your "MaxFPS" in your "eqclient.ini" in your Everquest folder to 60 or 30 fps.

Thank you so much for this post. I love the game, but this issue has been driving me crazy. I changed my MaxFPS to 60, restarted the client and works perfectly! Thank you.

Also, thank you for the effort from the original poster for making an effort to contribute to the community effort!
