As to why we haven't been back recently, it's really expensive to send people to the moon. NASA funding in the late 60s was nearly 5% of the federal budget. After "winning", funding was cut down to roughly 1% of the federal budget by 1973. Today, NASA costs are only .5% of total federal dollars spent.

NASA has straight up said we don’t have the technology to return, and all of the telemetry from previous missions was destroyed

None of that makes sense. The moon landing was fake and the subsequent missions were propaganda to legitimize the first one

This just seems highly suspect that with all of the technological advancements we have had in the past half century, we still havent gone back.
