Default Question about Kunark expansion

I started playing live EQ back in October of 2000. So when I joined the game Kunark was out and Velious was just a couple months from launch. If I recall right, and please correct me if I am wrong, Kunark was not when the levels went from 50-60 it was velious that raised the player levels.

So then what was the point of Karnors Castle during Kunark. It's a 50+ zone but there was no 50+ players so what would people go there for? Was it just for raids and epic fights?

So Kunark does raise the player level to to 60? That makes more sense then.

Thanks,

I think it would have been a lot better if it raised it to just 55 just saying. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Ya I don’t think they had a clear idea of just how much staying power the game was going to have. In hindsight they probably would have only raised the level cap to 55 in Kunark.

Vanilla was 50, Kunark was 60, POP was 65.

I think they did AAs in Luclin. Not sure what they 'added' for Velious as ways of advancement...

Or was Luclin 65 and POP was AAs?

Aaaarrrrggghhh I CANT REMEMBER!!!!

Luclin was the introduction of AAs. Velious didn’t offer anything new in terms of character advancement, but it brought some new much needed spell lines that started at earlier levels, and is when stats on gear really starts to ramp up.

I agree. 5 Levels is a lot when you're talking about a total of 50-60. However, you never know what effect it could have had, good or bad. The whole expansion difficulty would have had to be readjusted if this was decided later on.

For instance, Gates of Discord (expansion after PoP) was a bit unbalanced. I think someone even said the devs designed tGoD for level 70 in mind, but decided not to raise the Level cap in the end. All word of mouth however, but I figured it makes sense...
