I just use the maps on the wiki, and have them open frequently on my 2nd monitor while I play.

Step 1: go to your guild master and train sense heading. While there, also put a skill point into swimming.

Step 2: have any other device where you can look up maps for reference while you are playing.

If for some odd reason you don't have a phone, tablet or whatever, window mode eq and google maps for the zone you plan on heading to.

That is all you need to git gud. Hope that helps.
