Everquest has the same 'tick' type system but its harder to notice because its sped up a bit. Ive seen people manipulate the tick in eq by being able to walk passed kos mobs if they did it at the end of the tick before it starts over.

Yeah if you ever watched me playing my wizard, quadding, looting, running back to my safe medding spot, is all done sitting for a half second every 6 seconds while keeping a mental count so that im getting meditation the entire time im moving around, cleaning up corpses etc.

On p99 wiz quad nukes are 4.5sec. If u time it just right, you have a split-second after a tick of mana to stand and start casting, and then instantly after you have a split-second to sit to capture the tick, and with sow, a 5 second run + sit (repeat) allows you quad perfectly on standard runspeed mobs that are snared without ever missing a med-tick. If it wasnt for this "advanced user tactic" i wouldnt even snare my quads, because you can technically quad standard runspeed mobs without snaring them since max spellcasting range takes 5.5-6 seconds for mobs to reach you against a 4.5s cast time. Takes about 12 seconds mental count to get to max range again with sow on an unsnared quad.

After theyre all dead you run-med to each corpse, capturing the med-tick, and when theyre stacked, loot 1, sit, loot 2, sit etc and capture all med ticks there too.

Wizard was first toon back on solusek ro, before i went pro with chanter when the TLPs started rolling out come Fippy.

Yeah, he has that backwards.

If anything DAOC is a perfect example of what he's describing.

That game has position-reliant melee attacks, which makes pvp like Quake with swords.
It's not about positional attacks. It's the feel of the movement.

Playing both P99 and a DAoC emu server it's pretty obvious. The movement of EQ is much snappier, more reactive, almost like an FPS. DAoC feels slower in how your character reacts to your mouse movements.

I mentioned this to the devs too how the mouse movement needs to be precise like CSGO and EQ with zero rubber band effect. Hopefully they listen cause that lag / rubber band mouse movement can ruin an entire game cause it feels terrible. WoW is also snappy like that. Also told them how to do animation lock properly if they use it like the WoW charge where it releases the character immediately and initiates immediately. Clunkyness comes from bad animation lock where it lasts too long or isn't responsive when you press the button because you naturally try to execute an ability afterwards except it doesn't do anything cause the "animation" is still stuck even though it shouldn't be.

I hate to be a debbie downer, but the name Pantheon is lackluster. Just don't like it. Everquest was such a good name for a MMO. What was so hard about not giving it a name from the most popular game on the planets roster? Pantheon.. jesus christ. I get what they were getting at, but they don't understand how it sounds. It's like I built this huge meaning to my name But aint us , cuz people say we can't make a good mmo to beat wow after all these days.... But AINT US. we are But aint us.
