As the original Black Sock Down, I can tell you that the staff can see any program in windows that contributes keystrokes; I sat there and demonstrated it for a GM until she figured out how to read it through [whatever dashboard they use]. Mechanical methods are still illegal, but I’m not sure how detectable that is unless the patten is just straight up identifiable. A non-software (read: hardware, or something non-windows) macro to input a mouse click would be... borderline impossible to practically use.

I do wonder if the additional hot bars might exist and we just can’t see them, possible exploit? The options tab will let me map functions to hotbuttons I can’t see.

Not sure what a black sock is but it sounds cool.

I was told that they're really looking for stuff that accesses/modifies EQ memory space. I've used software to map/send keystrokes (change mouse four to send TAB as an example) but that's the extent of it. Pretty much every gaming mouse supports this kind of functionality now.
