It's possible to be outraged over cops needlessly killing citizens. It's also possible to be simultaneously outraged over rioting and mayhem in the streets.

Black people have a reason to be distrustful of police. At the same time, fighting with the cops is a bad idea no matter what your skin tone is.

When you can't hold two complex thoughts in your head at the same time, you just might be a Trumptard. Or part of the illiberal left.

Also, de-funding the police is stupid and doesn't even mean anything that any critical mass of people can agree on.

If we would do things like legalize and regulate drugs it would A - take money out of cartel hands, B - make police spend less time on it which means they can allocate more resources toward better things (and subsequently tax payers for the prison system, courts etc) C - generate tons of tax revenue. Thats a piece of "defunding the police." Them just pissing away money on a war on drugs that we've known would fail since inception because the same thing failed with prohibition is just an awful use of police time and tax payer money.

Defunding the police is also like, dont buy them like...tanks...because it is extremely rare they would ever need them.

not buy, they get those free from the defense logistics agency. but they do have to pay to maintain them. i think it's a good alternative to scrapping or mothballing them.

I'm not sure how well Minneapolis has been repaired since the summers of 2020. They were burning down buildings left and right there. I'm quite sure no one wants that to happen again anywhere.

People are boarding up their businesses in preparation of the derek chauvin trial verdict. It's pretty screwed up to expect riots based on chauvin verdict.
