Quillmane details
Hi all,
Just checking the details of Quillmane - currently being told it isn't an FTE and I need to join a queue in the actual zone for it....This true? (I searched forums for the info and there's hundreds of posts about QM but none that I could find that says it's not an FTE) Cheers, - Ssethrass

There's actually a page in the wiki for answering questions like this: https://wiki.project1999.com/Camp_Rules. It will point you to this player question and ruling:

Under any other conditions ... in other words, if you ever just see an un-agroed Quillmane running around, anywhere in SK ... by definition she is not camped, and you can freely attack her. P.S. While the player says "3 spawn locations", note that Menden doesn't; he just says that if you're camping Quill you need to FTE (agro) her virtually the moment she spawns, which requires waiting at all spawn points. Thanks to changes that have happened since that ruling, many believe there are now several more spawn points ... not just three (which makes it even more difficult to truly "camp" Quill).

Just read all that now - thank you!
So I was given a bum steer by one of the players in zone....No worries. Thanks again, - Ssethrass

Keep in mind the just because the rule says its FTE doesn't make it not a dick move while someone else is actively killing the PHs.
This server, and game in general, has a large belief that "Not against the rules" also means "Did the right thing" They certainly misinformed you of how the camp works. But before sitting on a spawn point to FTE a free QM you put no work into spawning - ask yourself if this is the right thing or just following the rules enough to not get in trouble.

If it's up and not engaged, kill it imo. Nice guys get burned on this server and sorry Menden, despite your quote, GMs only rule for the rules. I can't tell you the number of times I got burned by the letter of the rule and just had to suck it up and move on.

Something along the lines of: “We honestly can’t claim any rights here according to a strict reading of the rules. However, we’d appreciate it greatly if you respected the time we’ve put in, and all that jazz, and would consider it a personal favor. And would really be just a swell thing for you to do.” Ok. People act is sociable and respectful manner - yes do them any favor you can muster from your overflow of personal strength of character. But in this case? Misleading and guilt tripping? Burn em. That kind of anti-social behaviors need to be discouraged. Not enabled.

Really it just comes down to what compromises to your integrity you're willing to live with.
Doing the right thing doesn't change because of how wrong someone else is behaving. But truthfully we don't know, maybe that person genuinely believed that's how QM worked? I think OP just came here to verify how the camp actually works. Not necessarily looking for what to do in every scenario. You're going to come across crummy people playing here. There are rules set in place to decide who gets in trouble, but people should still know right from wrong. Sometimes that means going a step or two beyond doing just what the rules say.
