I swear all these new developers feel the need to soak us with graphics and textures until we drown in them.

There’s a reason people still play 10 to 20 year old games, and it’s not because of graphics. It’s gameplay. Team Fortress 2 is a great example of this - it’s a game that has otherwise pretty simple graphics, but the balance and gameplay have kept millions playing even after 10+ years. Minecraft is another example, totally garbage graphics, but people sink so much time into the game.

Pantheon is making the same mistake that New World has made, spend trillions on textures and graphic artists, and put a nominal amount of effort into actual balance and gameplay.

A slightly more re-tooled EQ (more quests, a way better crafting system), would blow most of these modern games out of the water. Even p99 is better for a lot of things. I loved playing monk and duo’ing with a shaman in XP levels camping raster

Lore and other things like that, even something simple like duo class pairs, many of these new games can’t recreate
