Question detect an infared code

I am trying to get an infared signal being sent from an emitter (think along the lines of a remote control). I know I can use a fotoransistor on a breadboard to capture/detect the signal, but I have no idea how to get the code being sent out of it. I need the hex so i can re broadca st it. How can I get this info?

There are websites that have IR codes like the one I'm looking for but they don't have particular for this device

I'm not very familiar with the subject but google-fu points me in this direction. Would this be along the lines of what you're looking for?

You're an idiot bighurb obviously I tried google before an everquest forum. when I tried asking this on computer science and electrical engineering forums no one knew. This was a long shot hoping some other nerds on here have done something I genuinely am looking to accomplish.

I saw this before but the product is discontinued. I hope to find one similar because it would have worked probably.

Not hard to be considered smart, I guess, with people like you lowering the bar
