Default Nillipus' March of the Wee - should Not shrink

This song never actually applied 'Shrink' to you on Live, although it listed it as a spell effect for a very long time in the game data files. I remember this particularly as I played a top-end raiding Bard from Kunark until Omens and often wished it worked to annoy people. But, since that's anecdotal here is what I can find:

(May 5 2000- Aradune comments on Nillipus’, no mention of shrink)
http://web.archive.org/web/200102021...ommuniques.htm

(Dec 2 2000 grab- No mention of shrink effect)

(Dec 5 2000- No mention of shrink effect)
http://web.archive.org/web/200012052...ns.asp?Id=1055

(Oct 8 2000- No mention of Shrink effect)
http://web.archive.org/web/200102081...ngs/song52.htm

(Oct 10 2000- Abashi comments on Nillipus’, no mention of shrink)
http://web.archive.org/web/200010180...w.eqsongs.com/

(April 10 2001- “It just inceases AC/agi, it doesn’t make you small…”)
http://web.archive.org/web/200312292.../songs.asp?=62

(Dec 1 2001- No mention of shrink)
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/thec...p=12824#p12824

(July 11 2001- “It says this makes you smaller…” “it says a lot of incorrect things..”)

(Out of Timeline comments)

(Sept 2002 - Shrink was previously limited to Dungeon zones, this patch removed it. There would be evidence if Bards were the only class who could shrink in the open world.)

(2003- No mention of shrink)
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/thec...p=12119#p12119

(2003- “wish it was group shrink”)
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/thec...p=11985#p11985

(2004- “Needs shrink component”)

Some final thoughts: This is probably a 'bug' due to how hard it is to prove that something Doesn't exist when the files say they do. Bards were pretty much spaghetti code on Live, so there's plenty of undocumented issues (graphics/T-posing with illusions, Bard buff stacking, bard clickies, etc). I've tried to provide sources where omissions of the shrink effect should be clear- if people were shrinking/unshrinking every 18 seconds or with every round of combat, I believe it would've been mentioned in the links. While some of these are past p99's timeline, it shows that a "shrink song" was something people wanted/talked about and would've solicited "Well we already have one in Nillipus'" response.

Has anybody taken a good look at our lev 50+ songs?
-Information gleaned from EQ castersrealm-

lev 51 selo's travel: great convenience song for getting from point A to point B. Not group friendly per se, due to the lag/ld risk, etc.

lev 51 absonant binding: weak slow debuff (30-35%) and weak snare rolled into one.

lev 52 nillipus' march of the wee: 10ac +18agi and a damage absorbtion. Get smacked by anything over lev 20 and the whole effect is gone, and the effect is totally weak to begin with, come on look at the level of the song and the amount of buff here!

It just increases AC/agi, it doesn't make you small. The reason why it says that is because Nillipus is a brownie(incase you don't know, brownies are really really small) in Rivervale somewhere or in that area, that's what I heard from a guildie.

They did indeed take out the dmg shield, so it is not useless anymore, the tanks in my group that I played it in loved the AC.

I played this song a couple months ago and it worked beautifully - had a DS on it (which IS useful, regardless of what people may think) and buffed AC/agil. In combination with lute accompanied Shield of Songs I managed to reduce our cleric to a stunner and sometime healer. Well, ok, but he didn't have to use as much mana to save our crazy AE wizards and chanter.
About two weeks ago (with a patch between tries) I was using it again, attacking as I had the first time, and I noticed that as soon as I punched (hit or miss) I got big. Anyone know if VI decided the song was being exploited for AE and chose to nerf it such that attacking cancels the effect?
So assuming any changes to the song ever included a shrinking effect, such changes would have likely occurred in mid-late 2001, if at all. Because the inclusion of shrink is based only on one comment, more information seems necessary.

You guys are all idiots, this song is pretty good in that it does a small rune as well as some good stat buffs. Instruments have no effect on this song as well. The only set back though, is that once the rune effect drops, the buff effects drop as well. In real dungeons, which is where lvl 52 bards fight, the song is virtually worrthless in this respect because the buffs will drop when the mob hits you the first time.

NO this song does not make you smaller.

*giggle* sorta the same thing..but not...
was in a grp last night..twisting in March of the Wee along with haste mana attack..all those songs they love to hear..druid sends me tell..do you want me to shrink you so you dont have to play that song...LOL..I had to explain to her that "THAT SONG" was an increase AC/agility/Absorb Damage song. I like using that song mixed with a bunch of others and have received good reviews.
I thought it was funny.....

Would be nice if they added a shrink component to this song.

I think shrink wuld make it confusing. Most songs dont last very long, ( 3 ticks ) so if 1 second ur big and the next ur small and ur changing back and forth... kinda confusing id think

actually you can bank in Kelethin, but you gotta be tricky. First go to side of building where you can see banker in window.... target him, then move farther along side of building until you are closest to him... now you must change your view using F9, press it a few times until you get the farthest view you can roll it a bit until you can now see the banker in that same window again while you stand nearest to him from outside, click on him through window and whalla, you are banking!

Shrink would make it confusing , incorrect .
If you twist this song during battle , along with you're haste , mana , snare/slow , its fine.
This actually takes better effect when theres 2 bards in the group , so you have one repeatedly twisting mana and haste , you repeating slow and this song druring battle , and on the occasion when you have a cleric/anyformofhealer in the grp that hasn't got wis maxed , the int+wis ++ songBig Smile.

I don't get lost! People just move the zone around!!!!
