Default Ranger ToV Options

Currently have these:

Tolan's Longsword
Baton of Flame
Claw of Lightning
Earthcaller/Swiftwind

I think my real options are between Baton/Tolan's, Tolan's/Claw, and Tolan's/Swiftwind, other than the situational combos.

Has anyone run the numbers on these? I vaguely remember there being a post on a similar topic with an equation that will do the crunching but I can't find it.

This thread begins the discussion but doesnt describe how ToV weapons stack up against each other DPS wise and added bonus wise.

Mainhand:
Baton of Flame: amazing dps (2.15) great for setting up speedbump
Tolan's Longsword: good dps (1.95) no proc, AC buff for speedbump, great extra stats

Offhand:
Claw of Lightning (1.55) amazing ratio, good stats
Swiftwind (1.23) good ratio, good stats, great atk buff

Pretty sure Baton/Claw are BiS in terms of raw damage assuming you're capping out on offensive stats and haste regardless. The others would only come into play if you cared specifically about their stats, such as resists or tanking durability, for a particular fight.

Tolan's is good for mainhand if you don't have a Kflame or Baton. I don't like it in offhand unless you're tanking for the AC effect. Swiftwind, Claw, or even Kflame, for proc pew pew pew, are the only offhands I'd consider on my ranger.

The calc for offhand ratio is simply damage / del. Higher number wins and is a better offhand, but need to consider Swiftwind's effect which really ruins this discussion imo till someone severely maths a +3% dps benefit vs higher ratio.

I think baton + kreiz would be fun. It has the potential to out dps anything, but isn't the ideal setup and probably won't. Exactly how I'd gear my ranger tho. I made Zalea after Xanthias showed me his TWO 600+ DD proccers. That was enough for me to make a ranger and that setup kinda echos that idea but with nicer ratios instead of dirt ones.

Mistle did a big parse on another server using ranger ToV setups.

You guys might be interested in this. I went and parsed a bunch of combos on the takp dev server against a target dummy. Now it's not exactly like p99 (for one, AC actually works there), so the numbers won't be identical to here in an absolute sense, but it is still a classically accurate server mechanics wise and so the combos should be pretty accurate relative to each other. Here's what I posted on my guild forum:

Our hero ranger now has both 255 str and dex unbuffed (as they would with avatar) and is buffed with pred and vog (not warders because we don't want the ds being counted). This is a fair approximation of what a ranger would have on our raids after getting an avatar proc, minus the big attack buff. 2100 seconds (slightly weird number because I was late getting back to computer on the first parse and went with it! It's 35 minutes)

Here we go...

BoF + SW: 150279 damage, 71.6 dps, 62 proc hits, 0 resists
BoF + Tolans: 150294 damage, 71.6 dps, 61 proc hits, 0 resists
BoF + Kriezenns: 156390 damage, 74.5 dps, 96 proc hits, 0 resists
BoF + CoL: 153441 damage, 73.1 dps, 69 proc hits, 0 resists
Sal D + BoF: 157170 damage, 74.9 dps, 91 proc hits, 9 resists (all Thunder Strike)
Meljeldin: 149288 damage, 71.3 dps
Tolans + CoL: 138598, 66.0 dps
Sal D + SHFD: 127068, 60.5 dps, 79 proc hits, 12 resists (all Thunder Strike)

Interesting thread. I think the take away from that is once you're at the top it doesn't matter what you use.
They're mostly all good setups and similar damage. Tolan's is a bad main hand... and probably a better offhand than I thought.

Going from that parse, anything with a ratio equal to or greater than Tolan's (.714) should offset ATK loss from epic with Baton main.

BoF + Kriezenn's with all resists would be -9600 damage so:

146790 damage @ 69.9 dps over 35 mins.

Wouldn't suggest that combo on fire dargons. At 69.9 to 74.5 dps, it's one of the worst and best combos.
Still that's pretty good DPS assuming NO procs.

Let's say you proc 3x in a minute. 300 damage / 60 = +5 dps. Bumps it over anything on the list.
Mistle had a 2.74 PPM on that parse so I'd say that's a realistic expectation at max dex.

Looking better and better the more I think about it.
