Default A bunch of adult articles on the wiki

So just to preface this, I was not searching for adult content on the wiki. There are much better sites for that.

But when I went to the wiki and typed in "The" (because I was looking up The Tangrin), a bunch of "The top 10 ... adult stuff" pages were suggested.

One very popular topic it seems is...
since we're probably all adults here...
"butt plugs" among others. If you type that in, you get loads of pages all intended to game the google search algorithm for links embedded on the page.

Would an admin be able to delete all those pages? I don't even know how you'd find them all, but looks like loads were created in the past 4 months.

The problem is, someone is using a bot to create those pages and new users, presumably on lots of wikis across the web (to make their scummy site look more legitimate to Google). As a wiki admin, it takes me longer to delete the pages and ban the users than it takes this asshole to make them, so it's a losing game of whack-a-mole.

ATTN ROGEAN: The real solution would be to make it harder for this asshole to signup. The wiki has an extension which adds a security question when you signup, but the asshole has learned the answers, so he can bypass that check.

What we really need is to reconfigure it to use a "CAPTCHA" instead, or else rotate the question(s) on a weekly or monthly basis. If we can make things difficult enough for him, presumably he will give up and stop bothering us.

(As a side note, I've asked for this kind of access to help out in the past, but Rogean is justifiably wary of letting strangers access his personal machines ... to the point that he's never even replied to my offers. The offer remains open if he ever changes his mind [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.])

Until that happens, the best normal users can all do is simply edit those pages to remove their content (removing the link is the important part). I am also working on a "bookmarklet" to let wiki admins like myself clean up the mess faster, but that's really more of a band-aid than a solution, and I haven't had time to finish it.

I agree that these types of pages shouldn't be on the platform. The best course of action would be to alert the site admins directly so they can clean it up and put measures in place to prevent future spam. Hopefully, they can implement better moderation tools to catch this kind of content before it becomes an issue
