So I got dosbox plus a few of the TSR/SSi games. Turns out there's some pretty wicked trojans embedded in those dam things. Be careful kids.

remake/remaster of the original elder scrolls (2) daggerfall built in the unity engine.
Has support for mods and runs on modern systems.

I remember never getting very far in daggerfall as far as the main story and just totally playing it sandbox style. That said, i only remember a few pieces about the game. There was something about summoning daedra on specific months/days, you could become a vampire, you could make your own race, and there were bare titties all over the place.

King's Quest V was my first RPG, really liked that one.

FFIII is a classic.

Maybe stretching RPG but E.V.O. The Search for Eden was a very memorable game.

A a couple people mentioned kings quest... but is that really an RPG? From what I recall the king's quest games were like monkey island/myst -- exploration/ puzzle games basically.

Yeah, you are right. It's a stretch but got the ball rolling for me.

Bards quest is a more RPG version of kings quest if you havent played it, and it's recently been HD remade I think.

Skyrim, can't believe it hasn't had more of a mention.

Love Oblivion too... nothing like being the famous "hero of Kvatch" <3

All time? Final Fantasy Tactics original ps1 version. Much more “gritty” than Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions re-release imho. Though I own and beat both. FFT story and gameplay is amazing for turn based chill.

Honorable mentions from my younger self:
Wild Arms
Star Ocean 2: Second Story (the re-release was better in every way imho)
Legend of Dragoon
FF7 & 8 (loved me the 8 love story and military academemy mercenary theme)
