I have less of a clear idea what Dems want for their citizens

The method republicans want to use to instill their values is tough love. Pull the support and put down boundaries, instill the traditional values. The obvious risk that happens with this approach is a lot of initial hardship. The result is a near-guarantee of short term pain for possible long term gain, kind of like how discipline works

The method Dems want to use is more support, understanding, and empathy. There is no short term risk as I see it of this approach. The long term risk is dependence on the support rather than personal resilience

I am more hazy on Dem goals and methods obviously, so forgive me if I’m wrong on these

Dems should try to create an episode “what if Jan 6th was successful in overthrowing the government”. That would be fun, because they would have to create a scenario where that unarmed mob somehow held the capital. Maybe Pence could get killed in it. But then they would really be hitting a roadblock on how holding that capitol for some period of time resulted in a new government being declared. Because it would have to involve either getting the entire US military support, or else somehow beating the us military.
