No torque and shit reliability? Sounds about right for a woman.

the rx7 is a beautiful machine. i'm talking the 1986-1992.5 year models here though, not the early ones, not the late ones. the body lines are clean, it's rear wheel drive, perfect 50:50 weight distribution, and basically it's just an old school japanese supercar. yes stibe, i know that they're not popular cars because of their reputation of their reliability, but the reason why is mainly the fact that people do not know how to maintain them. and that is not the fault of the car.

if you own a 7, you had better be religious with your oil changes. they are designed to burn a small amount of oil, and if you let your oil get too dirty it will clog these oil squirters and ruin your engine.

if a person is a hack and tries to tune an rx7, they have very low tolerance for detonation due to the internal design of the engine. the triangle shaped rotors funnel the force of the detonation directly into the weakest point; the apex seal.

also overheating is a major concern, again due to engine design. all of the water seals are basically rubber o-rings that have the tendency to melt if you take your needle into the red, and that basically means you get to rebuild the engine.

if you own an rx7, you have to consider it the same way you would consider a dirt bike. they will break. they are toys. but if you have a stock rx7, they are very good cars if you maintain them the way they require.

rx7s are great little beaters. downside is apex seal and the work/parts involved in replacing those.

i think most people that talk shit on rx7s have only driven/seen stock ones in real life. ride in a modded one that gets sideways when punching it and your head is planted in the back of the seat and you'll reconsider calling them a torqueless shit car.
