Your spells file is outdated
every time I try to join a server it just says your spells file is outdated, I've installed the latest patch and followed the instructions on the getting started page. before I had Everquest free to play installed and it worked but it had the new player models so I deleted Everquest free to play and when I went back to the game it said your spells file is outdated. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm running into this same problem. I had installed the game and was able to log in a play for a bit. For some reason, the game wouldn't launch the next time I went to run it.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 or 4 times following the directions on the setup guide. I still get that same message about spell list being outdated. I am using the v45 patch that is linked on the setup page. I made sure to put antivirus in sleep mode and deleted each of the files they say need to go. Any help? Thanks! | ||

I had the same problem and was able to fix it by unzipping the v45 files directly into my EQ directory instead of unzipping and then copying and pasting them. Simple fix but worked for me. If you didn't get an answer yet, hope this helps.

add an exception to your antivirus software for the EQ directory, or alternatively uninstall your AV (p99's spying code trips up most AVs)

I fixed the problem, I used duxa's one step installer and the game started to work
