Default Can't see at night

I have severe night time darkness where only names seem to be visible for me.
Daytime is completely fine. I am a dwarf, so shouldn't be human blindness.
I think something is off. I have tried several things, including messing with brightness on my video card and gamma in gama. Nothing I seem to do helps.
Ideas?

Just going from window mode to full screen fixes the problem on my ogre. I probably have the gamma slider set to around 70%, bright enough to see but not soo bright my screen is white. I think screen quality probably plays a decent role in the matter as well.

recently had an issue simular to this ajd in my eqclient.ini file there was an option called SkyCubemapSize and that was set to 0. deleting this line or putting it to like 2-4 helped me. also be sure your lighting is turned on in the eqclient.ini. like the dynamic lighting and any other option that refers to lighting.
