New old player
Hey all,
I started on Tarew Marr around the release of Velious, had tons of fun in the original game. My original/main was a 65 DE Mage. I also had a 62 Froglok Shaman. Had a ton of fun but it wasn't the same after PoP. I quit in 2004 and didn't play the game again until about a week ago (15 years). I am glad I found this server, its the EQ I remember and enjoyed the most. -Istivaan

It’s a blast. I find myself thinking about it while at work just like the old days lol. Like things I need to do and kill and such. Did you get in a guild yet? That helps a lot too.

Howdy,
Haha, I played on Tarrew Marr as well. It sounds like the same exact timespan as you too. Had a 60 druid - Gabrialle and some alts. My current toon's name is Balthemal. Definitely hooked just like back in the day.

Amazing how a 20 year old game can addict you like that again. Just goes to show these newer MMO’s lack depth and a real fee of accomplishment. WoW and EQ2 were and still are great games, and I’m sure there are several others, but they just lack that certain feeling of classic EQ live. Even the current EQ Live which has like 20 expansions or so is dumbed down. I don’t think there’s corpse runs and you have instant travel portals and NPCs you can hire to heal or tank for you so there’s no sense of grouping anymore.
Nothing compares. | ||

It is a blast! Always nice to log in and enjoy the fun from years ago.

Yea good games never really get old, just like playing console games from 30+ years ago is still fun. I do wish that EQ Live had continued to keep the feel while adding all the content. Theres a lot of cool stuff that's been added since I left, but its not just new tricks and maps, the dynamics are completely different. Also no one ever seems to talk (such as OOC/shouts) and all the "old" content zones are completely dead. Its like I stood up my own private server with no one else on it. Many people on p99 are really friendly. I dont think its that hard so far to find groups. I have a few friends from work that also quit EQ along time ago until now that they found p99 that I group with. I also found people in game for groups easily. Also, I love seeing EC alive with auctions again.
