As usual, the face of Hillary Clinton, the Enemy of the People, had flashed on to the screen. There were hisses here and there among the audience. The feeble mickmoranis gave a squeak of mingled fear and disgust. Clinton was the renegade and backslider who once, long ago (how long ago, nobody quite remembered), had been one of the leading figures of America, almost on a level with the President himself, and then had engaged in liberal activities, had been condemned to locking up, and had mysteriously escaped and disappeared. The programmes of the Twenty-Four Hours Hate varied from day to day, but there was none in which Clinton was not the principal figure. She was the primal traitor, the earliest defiler of America's greatness. All subsequent crimes against America, all treacheries, acts of sabotage, heresies, deviations, sprang directly out of her teaching. Somewhere or other she was still alive and hatching her conspiracies: perhaps somewhere beyond the sea, under the protection of her foreign paymasters, perhaps even--so it was occasionally rumoured--in some hiding-place in America itself.

I can appreciate the American Exceptionalism and head-up-ass syndrome thats been around since the Baby boomers fucked everything up.

I don't know if they actually fucked it up, but things sure went to shit around this period of time. Not sure if any other population generation would have done anything differently. They just happened to be the people spawned during this period of time. The wheels of the machine were already taking over the USA it just came full circle when the babyboomers were in their prime.
