Your spells file is outdated.
I understand the outdated spells file error is common for those who use the wrong version zip file patch, or don't replace the file at all due to my searching for a solution.
I had it working fine last night, using the V30 zip file on a fresh install since I haven't played in a long time. I changed nothing, and log in today to my character selection being replaced by the error message. My last ditch effort was to re-install and try duxa's installer to patch myself current, but I get the same error message. As an aside, I'm using WinEQ 2.15 as linked from the getting started guide. edit: I don't know if it's related, but I have had to try logging in a couple times in a row in order to get the server list to come up. Sometimes it just hangs for a minute with no servers. | ||

I don't think the server list issue is related. I get it quite a bit also. Not sure what causes that, but because I get it after a few tries, it doesn't worry me.
I don't use duxas, or anything. I download the patch, and move it into my eq folder letting it replace anything it wants. Quote:

Welp, unzipped the -same- file from last night for the third time and it's working again.
I'll just go with it. | ||
