Default Suggestion on race/class for tomorrow?

I usually play iksar, but that isn't going to be an option. In the past I have played iksar shaman, iksar necromancer, high elf mage, dark elf mage, troll shaman, and troll shadowknight. I really prefer to play casters, especially pet classes. I want to be able to play the game and have a good class/race combination that I won't regret too much while having a good starting area to get groups and play the game. I'm kind of curious to also try a halfling or a western antonica character, since fresh servers are the only opportunity to really do stuff like blackburrow. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think it’s hard to argue against the min max choice being HE enchanter. They remain amazing through the end of velious, and you’ll be set up with a farming char to twink out your Iksars when Kunark launches.

Sounds like you've played enough of the game to put your big boy pants on and make the call yourself.

Guise of the Deceiver is a fairly common drop on a mob that spawns pretty often, and you only have a 6+ month time window to obtain it. Looking a the classes you've enjoyed playing and the playstyle you favor, I'd recommend either a Troll or Ogre shaman and nab a guise for that sweet Dark Elf illusion to use in dungeons or plain old fashionquest.

I'm having a hell of a time resisting that temptation personally.

If your goal is specifically to create a farming character, Necro would be a better choice than Enchanter IMO. Easier to solo with, no worries about Charm breaks or anything like that, and can FD whenever you want to go AFk.

Hafling Druid seems like it would be up your alley.

Why not erudite paladin for that sweet stat array? Or troll shadowknight for that OG experience grind?
