Default Mac installation help!

So I downloaded a package from poster here named Vile, and that will boot. ( https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...=56238&page=46 ) But it gives me a prompt to download the patched files, but when I swap out the patched files in the package Everquest no longer boots.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong/ what I might be missing?

Never patch, actually. There should be someplace you can tell it not to "patchme," but I forget where that is.

mcoy, that's your cue.

In the character selection boxes it tells me to go to project1999.com for updated files where the character names usually go? I am assuming this version was before some kind of big update. I could also just be missing something obvious.

Yes, the v53 files are required to play - these are updated occasionally and if you're out of date you'll see that message on the character select screen.

That said, when installing these patches be sure you're not replacing the folders themselves with what's in the patch zip as the folders in the patch only contain the changed files - you still need the non-changed files in order for the game to work. I'd recommend reinstalling, then copy the contents of the v53 patch and only overwrite existing files (not folders).

If you look on the front page, you’ll see a link to patch files v53 or something like that. Download and unzip that folder into the Everquest folder, overwriting everything.

If that doesn’t work, it might just be a Mac issue.

After messing around trying to get it working on Mac, I ended up just installing Parallels. Everything works flawlessly now.

Yeah, every time I apply the v53 files to the thing I have it stops launching. I am gonna hammer at it a bit and if it doesn't work maybe just wait to buy a pc at some point.

This is the error I am getting. I can update every file to get to this point except dsetup.dll When I replace that file the icon kind of pops up on my bar and then disappears.

[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Once I replace that and it no longer launches, running a test on wine gives me this.

err:module:attach_process_dlls "DSETUP.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program Files\\Sony\\EverQuest\\eqgame.exe" failed, status c0000005
