This is not what happened (at least not in the critically correct order of the events). Smed went off the hook in a way that cost the company money. It shouldn't have happened.

BTW, I'm not defending the LS people and I never said what they did was harmless. What they did was harmful and illegal...and Smed should have handled it the right way, instead he wrote a nice chapter for his memoirs on how to lose your cool and make mistakes when you are at the helm.

Yep. Slow here. Smed is god. CEO is not the leader of the firm. All fault belongs to subordinates that pulled the wool over his eyes. If only Smed had really been in charge things would have been different...
