Default Shaman Gear

Question: Level 45 Ogre Shaman - casual, very intermittent play, no guild (not opposed to joining one, but couldn't be counted on consistently to support guild events), willing to group/raid but not willing to make an appointment/clear real life schedule to do it. That being said, what would you say this type of character should have for gear in each slot. I'm guessing it would be reasonably priced EC auctioned stuff plus solo-doable camps that don't require ridiculous amounts of time (guessing not many of those). Interested to see suggestions. (Not posting what I'm currently wearing, because I'd like to see what others suggest without bias). Philosophy wise I'm focused on HP/AC primarily and then STA/WIS in either order secondarily. Currently soloing and saving money - not sure if I should use money to upgrade continuously in all slots or save up and wait for things that make bigger differences like JBB, Torpor, Canni IV?

Use your money to upgrade as you go. One of the great things about classic EverQuest is that items have and retain value after purchase. So take the intermediate upgrades to make your soloing more efficient now. More efficiency leads to a higher level, which leads to more income. The faster you gain platinum, the faster you'll continue to upgrade. And every time you do, you can just turn around and sell back what you'd purchased previously, often times for a profit if you are a patient auctioneer.

How much do you have to spend? If you can afford them, some sort of regen BP and JBB will make the biggest difference in soloing efficiency.

Unfortunately, I don't have 25K pp to drop on a JBB yet. Probably around 5K currently, which is why I asked, should I suck it up and save for JBB and eventually topor and Canni 5 or go ahead and piecemeal upgrade weak slots as I go. I don't have trouble soloing reasonable mobs now, but not sure bit by bit upgrades are worth it when we already know what the must have items are to be relevant at 60 (by relevant I mean able to solo the stuff that Shaman are known for soloing).

Save your money for some regen, then. By the time you'd be able to afford a JBB, there will be more efficient ways to spend your time to down a mob. Regen, on the other hand, never goes outta style. And an Iksar Ceremonial Chestplate can be yours for under 15k these days.
