angry, alienated young men with mental health issues have always been a really dangerous demographic. right wing racial radicalism is just where a lot of them end up in the current ecosystem because it presents pretty compelling targets for their anger and excuses for their lack of success in life/career etc.
cant really do anything about it without addressing the fact that a lot of these guys fall through the cracks and dont get the mental health interventions they need, probably cos they dont really seem troubled until they get out of school and college and dont have any structure in their lives to keep them grounded anymore.

I could agree with that, at least partially. Your lens is a little skewed though, because the rabid left attracts the same lot, albeit with differing ideologies. You still had roving gangs of degenerates targetting random white people at the portland airport, and jumping people unprovoked when Trump was elected. Still had midwesters targetting random white fathers at the wisconsin state fair. Still had roving bands of "youth" pulling white people out of their cars and beating them nearly to death on the major roadways in the rust belt.
The fringe right doesnt really have a monopoly on sociopathic racists. Plenty of racists on the left. Difference is, its being condoned to pass discriminatory laws and policies when your targetting the whites now days. And the pied piper continues playing his flute.
