I didn't play on RZ, but I'm guessing Formosa = Taiwan, where they speak Chinese. In Chinese, you end a lot of sentences with la (le). That's probably where the la's come from.

I used to play on Kali ( an ipx game network) back in like 1995 playing War2, and the Hong Kong players used to end there sentences with la~.

I actually do remember this which is funny. When I went to Singapore everyone would speak English around me but always said la randomly at the end of the sentences so I remember seeing people start typing that and thinking they must be from south asia
