Do you think some Trans people suffer from mental anguish due to their identity?
I mean, they have astronomical suicide rates, and I don't believe all that can be blamed on harassment.
Logic says people can and will develop mental disorders after years of dealing with their identity.
To brush it off as there's no issue here really does a disservice to trans people.
Mental issues are incredibly common. I just found out I have Trichotillomania. I literally don't have to shave my face because I pull it all out.

I think the video game disorder is really just an expression of an addictive personality. If you read the description, it is really no different from any other addiction. If you have a personality like that and you don't get addicted to games, you'll likely get addicted to something else. It is difficult to balance. I heard one bright individual refer to it once as monomania. I thought that was a good descriptor. Right now for me, it's health and fitness.
On the trans issue. I think a key factor is whether or not it causes distress. If you are able to happily navigate life with your disposition, then maybe it isn't an illness. It is certainly abnormal, but if it isn't hampering you, then I don't see it is much of a disease. I think that is why gender dysphoria is classified as a disorder, while transgenderism is not. And yeah, it
is possible to live as transgender with little to no dysphoria.
There needs to be a stronger emphasis on integrating the divergent elements of one's nature than pushing to embrace one and abandon the other. Both the right and the left have it wrong in that regard. Environment, perception and plasticity all play critical roles though in arriving at a happy, healthy point of balance.
