Game Mechanics: Is Hide Broken?

invis works... hide doesnt work.. worked fine yesterday on same mobs..

EDIT - saw a post in Bugs forum confirming its broken... should have checked there first.

Not to say it isn't broken since it sounds confirmed that it is, but I have seen a streak or two like that even when it's been working, lol

They're not a Rogue, if they were a rogue it would have a message showing if hide failed or not. They're just using the racial hide ability which is capped at 50 I believe.

I've had some pretty long fail streaks as well when hide is working properly.

For non-rogues, I am pretty sure the only way to tell if hide works, is con something. I remember looking at myself in 3rd person, to see if I disappear. That is a way to check. Then con something, if you disappeared.

Non-rogue and rogue, use same set of code to initiate hide. The difference, is rogues get a sucess message. Not sure if you should get a moved like message, if it was a failure in the first place. That may be client initiated. Not sure there.

It will show you disappeared even if your hide wasn't successful, so yes, you have to con. Another way to check is if you're a pet class, and your pet dies after you hide (just like invising), it was successful.

Rogue currently don't have 100% hide atm and no matter what it says it succeeds

This is a side effect of the recent hotfix, it only applies to racial skills, and kanras has a fix in for the next update.

Also post things in the right forums.

FYI, you can also check if you are hidden by trying to target yourself. If you can, you are not hidden. (won't work if you have invis on cause /tar yourself wouldn't work anyway)

I make a lil macro when i hide for when no mobs are around. I basically hide and try an target myself with one keyclick. (make sure you are not targeted before hitting it=))
