***Patch Day***
*General Changes*
-- Doubled the chance gain skill points in skills that are above 200.
-- Fixed a bug that disallowed casting of the Donal's Breatplate on
others once casted upon yourself.
-- The spell scrolls for Grim Aura should now all reflect usability by
SKs
-- Fixed a bug that would allow melee players to open a spellbook via
/book or alt+b.
-- Merchants will now recognize Iksar as a valid race.
-- New bind locations have been added to three zones in the world - One
on Antonica and two others on Kunark. NPCs at these locations can fill
you in on the details. Good hunting.

Author Topic: January 14th producer letter, more bind points

Station Member posted 03-01-2001 10:48 PM
The January 14th producer letter discussed more binding spots for meleers. I haven't heard a thing about it since. What is the status of this? As someone who is really tired of the huge amount of time it takes to get groups together due to lack of binding points I sure would like to see this addressed.

Actually I think with the release of Kunark they said they had the ability to make certain /parts/ of a zone bindable. So theoretically it's all possible now, with the potential exception of the old world zones.

OK, I'm supposed to be studying for an exam tommorrow morning so I thought this would be a good time to research this issue =o)
Excerpt from Producer's Letter Page
Recently we evaluated many underutilized dungeons and considered reasons why they might be underutilized. Some people suggested that proximity of bind locations plays a part, and as such we are considering adding more binding locations to the game. We of course will not allow everyone to bind on the doorstep of a dungeon, but these changes should hopefully reduce the potential run for a melee class. While additional binding locations probably will not be in the next patch, we did want to discuss our thoughts on the matter.
-----
I'd like to highlight this last line...
While additional binding locations probably will not be in the NEXT PATCH, we did want to discuss our thoughts on the matter. (Emphasis Mine)
OK, its now March 2nd. There have been at least a few patches since this statement.
Personally, I'm getting the dangling carrot impression here...
Absor, Abashi, Aradune... any update? ETA?

We're still working on implementing the new bind locations. I don't know when they'll go in. Hopefully soon.

Some new bind points are being done on the Test Server now. I'm not going to mention locations because who knows if they'll change them, but they look useful so far. They ARE working on it.

The one in Antonica is in the gypsy camp in North Karana. The two in Kunark are in a ruin in Frontier Mountains and also in the ruins above the dungeon of Kaesora. I haven't tested yet if you can bind inside of Kaesora, but I'm betting you can't.

Is it safe to bind in the ruins above Kaesora? What about the Targashin?

It also seems as though targishin was moved away from the ruins surrounding Kaesora after Pendle and the bind location were added, being instead closer to the beach and Kurn's Tower.

As far as I could tell, the Targishin has been removed. The entire ruins is completely safe, since no monsters ever wander in there and the targishin is gone.

This guy was originally put in to "guard the zone Kaesora from the curious n00bs", however back in my n00b days this guy used to leave the Kaesora ruins whenever he got bored and kick n00b ass and take names everywhere he went. I used to fight by the Kurn's Tower pulling heartsting scorpions and lesser icebone/charbone skeles and that @#%^in Targishin would come out of nowhere and whoop my ass, he wasn't trained either he just loved to roam from Kaesora to the beach and back. When Kaesora was made a bind area he was removed from the game because it would be suicide for anyone under 35 to bind there, and also because he didn't exactly do his guard job well. Oh yeah and those rumors of him ever dropping Knuckle Dusters are a bunch of BS, Knuckle Dusters have always dropped in the crypt in Sebilis.

It seems that he has been moved when kaesora became bindable. He is no longer near kaesora.

bind point no good? Reply... By: Anonymous

I thought this guy was supposed to stay put. Aren't the ruins supposed to be a bind point? And if that is the case, why the hell do they have this guy wandering around them? According to these posts it sounds like binding there is suicide. Anyone know this for a fact? Does anyone know where a good race COULD bind that would be safe here?

Ever since the ruins were made a bind point, I never saw the Targishin again. If he wasn't wandering outside the pit, he'd always be in one of the ruins inside the overall ruins, pacing back and forth with a scoprion...now only the scorpion is there. This is on Rodcet....I noticed some things are different on different servers.

This guy supposedly "Guards the ruins of Kaesoa" however he has killed me while I was hunting by the Kurn's ramp and when I was messing around on the beach. This d00d does not stay there he ends up everywhere!
