wait until you figure out how to map more than one function to a button. almost alll of my buttons have 2-3 different functions depending on how they are pressed.

Are you using ctrl or shift or alt modifiers for the multi button function?
Like example:
left trigger = shift
Right trigger = ctrl
Left + right trigger is shift + ctrl

So you then just map things as key binds.
B button = 9
L trigger + B button = shift 9
R trigger + B button = shift/ctrl 9

Etc etc

Step 1. downloading the program

Go to archive.org/details/EQP99V46

Click on Zip under download options to download the zipped file
(while this is downloading if you don't have a program to unzip files such as peazip now would be a good time to get one)

Open the zipped file by clicking on the downloaded file

Right click the folder click extract all here to extract the files to this folder
(it is important to take a moment to write down your folder path)

Download the most current patch from the p99 website

open your downloads right click the patch file mouse over more click extract all to and select your eq folder that you unzipped your files to earlier

it will ask you if you would like to replace the files as they are already there click yes as you are replacing the old files with the new patched files
(if you do not get this message you did something wrong)

Step 2. Selecting the correct files for launching the game

Open the Steam client

In the bottom left hand corner click the plus sign that says add a game

select add a non steam game

Select the browse icon at the bottom

Remember that path you wrote down? here is where you would use it.

Select the drop down menu that is next to look in

Now select the path you used to get to your folder location
(mine is home-->deck-->downloads-->eqlite)

once you get to the correct folder click open and find a file called "Launch titanium bat."

Make sure to click the ad selected programs tab

Step 3. Launch the game

head over to gaming mode go to your non steam games tab and look for
Launch Titanium.bat

click the gear icon for the options and scroll down to properties scroll down
to compatibility and check the box that says "force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool"

once that is done choose proton 7.0-4 from the drop down list.

Go ahead and launch the game

Step 4. correcting the resolution (if its bad mine was not)

Open your designated eq folder and find the file "eqclient.ini" open it with KWrite

scroll down to the videomode section of the file

if not allready change width and width windowed to 1200 change height and heightwindowed to 800

if the text is too small in the game remember you can use the command /chatfontsize 1-8 (i.e. /chatfontsize 5 will set it to 5)

And there you have it eq should be setup and ready to play on deck minus mapping your controls to the steamdeck controller
if thats what you want to use and that should really be what you are comfortable with!

the link you linked.... the zip file... has no launch Titantium.bat file.... (step 3)

No i just change the way the button is pressed for different functions (ie long press, double press, normal press, press on release, etc)

Hehe. The Ally is great so far. I was eyeing a Deck when it came out. I'm an MMO and mouse gamer, so the Ally (for me anyway) is not for all games, though it can play many more games than the Steam Deck as it's a Windows 11 pc in a console.

Been playing Diablo 4 on it. Perfect game for buttons. D4 has a TON of clicking I don't want to do with a mouse.

Some people on the FB group I follow do have some issues with hardware or software but that's to be expected on a first release.. easy to swap it out at Bestbuy.

I've had no issues with mine, but followed the guides to update EVERYTHING first.

Lately, the glitch of the day is the SD card reader gets too hot when you're running the Ally on turbo mode and some SD cards are then failing. It's a good thing the 512gb internal can be pretty easily upgraded to 2TB.

I don't rly see the need to have all that storage for the couple games I'm playing. I might try to get P99 running on it we'll see. The best portable P99 machine has been my Surface Pro 9.

So I’m trying these steps but when i look into my extracted Eq folder and when adding a non steam game, I don’t have a launch titanium.bat.
Is it missing now from the download?

I just bought the Steam Deck since 20% off. I am looking forward to playing Project 1999 on it. Thanks all for working through the issues and sharing here. I think the touch pads on the Steam Deck will make it perfect to play with.
