Default Manual Patching for P99 specifics

I've spent a couple hours so far on the EQEmu patcher, and it keeps crashing nomatter what I do. I run EQ via wine, and I suspect this is a wine+mono specific problem. This application fails completely if I attempt to run it under wine+dotnet, but the EQ Live patcher is working okay at present.

I'm hoping to sidestep the issue completely and patch manually, but I haven't been able to find the right info. Would someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction?

Thank you!

The instructions for manually patching USED to be on the Getting Started guide, but they took out the instructions and left "Use EQEmuLauncher", which doesn't work for those of us on Linux.

To get around this, download the patch files from the most recent patch thread, the latest is here:
http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=98761
Extract the EQChanges_Vxx.zip into your P99 directory and overwrite everything when prompted.

Default Perfect

That was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!

Unfortunately, that didn't seem to do the trick. I'm able to get past the character select on the "EZ" server, but I get the message about missing client files on 1999. As far as I know, the Wine patches in the threads are all with regards to getting the client running properly, and should not have any bearing on the login file check.

These are the sha1sums for the files I got from the above link. Would someone please confirm that this is everything I should need and also that the files are correct?

I was reading some of the patch notes from 2011, and there were mentions of over 20 files being changed by the patcher. The current patch set only has 5. Either lots of files have been abandoned, or the current posted archive must only be an incremental change set that depends on something more.

I've tried to go back and download the older patches, but as near as I can tell, they were taken down.

I don't think they are incremental man. I just reinstalled today, and didn't really want to use the patcher software. Saw your thread here and grabbed that archive and have connected without issue using just the files in there. Now I'm on Windows, but I only needed those files to connect without issue. *edit* Those and creating a eqhost.txt file which was not in there.

Thank you! In that case, I'll keep digging.

I took a look at the Linux install guide there, just glanced over it and didn't notice this listed. You are supposed to remove a couple files (unless this has changed), though I doubt it would cause issues logging in. The files to remove, I think, are as follows:

arena.eqg
arena_EnvironmentEmitters.txt
lavastorm.eqg
nektulos.eqg
Nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt

I just found it in one of the other threads. You are right though, it's an extra file that shouldn't be there, even though the message indicates missing or outdated files. DSETUP.DLL has to be removed after install (it's a duplicate copy that seems to be installed by mistake).

Just to get everything in one place (assuming you start with a current distro version of Wine that's already capable of running Everquest) ...

- Install a complete copy of EQ Titanium (I combined all my CDs onto one DVD iso for convenience, just copy the whole first disk and the cab file from the rest - then just okay the duplicate prompt for disc 1 at the end)
- Remove DSETUP.DLL from the root of the install directory
- Apply the current standalone patch from the latest patch thread (currently v27 - not neccessarily the top one in the forums though, so look close)
- Edit eqhost.txt to set the host to "eqemulator.net:5998"
- Start the client, exit at the character select screen
- Edit eqclient.ini and change vertexshaders to false (fixes the player models)
- Restart the client
