“Authoritarian”. Why does Trump have such a hard time getting through things the public voted him in on? Where’s the wall that was his #1 issue? If republicans are authoritarians then they are the lamest and most fucking ineffective authoritarians I’ve ever seen. Back to the drawing board horza, try again.

The promises made by politicians are symbols of their ideology, not pragmatic plans for action.

Politicians are figureheads that argue rhetoric while civil servants actually implement workable solutions loosely based around the framework provided by the flavour of the month demagogues.

Define for me what a promise is.

I don't see the reasoning behind why some people are calling Trump an authoritarian. No one is forced to be a subordinate to the state neither are we being treated as subjects. Trump is behaving as a populist for his base.

Things i'd like to see for an authoritarian Trump are as follows. Gun bans, limiting free speech, and push for more dependence on the state for starters.

So far from what I have seen he has baited Democrats in office about limiting gun anything and they rub their hands together happily on more than one occasion. Like the red flag laws. Honestly some people downright want all guns removed on the left.

In new york they recently passed a law that you cant call people illegal alien or be fined with 250k. Trump did good here on his authoritarianism agenda. Oh wait, democrats passed this.

Honestly Trumps constant job growth, being at a 52 year low for unemployment is the biggest indicator of his authoritarianism.

Yeah there's not much there. The only thing I can think of is he threatened a civil war if he gets impeached. No big deal.

Remember how I pointed out the Left / Right line has been shifted far left over the last 30 years?

All the screeching about Trump, moves to push it even further left. Just look at immigration alone. The left wing screechers have effectively pushed the idea of any sort of border security and accountability at the border as being anti humanitarian and something that must be stopped. It's happened with immigration but it's happened everywhere else as well. Every social issue. Spending issues. The screeching and harassment serves to shift the line further left and it's an inevitable crawl as they own media, politicians, school etc....

It's all a slow burn tactic and it doesn't matter if they get one of their direct guys in like a Biden or Obama or they get a Trump in who placates the common people with small victories but still inevitably loses anything he tried to do.
