If you equip your pet with a higher damage 2h weapon it will turn him into an absolute monster. I think i was lucky to find a vendor somewhere in neriak that was selling halberds. Its a 14/50 weapon that allows your pet to mow through mobs. Don't worry about the pet taking 50% xp due to how fast you will be killing. Just look for double digit damage 2h weapons from vendors and watch the terrible low levels fly by.
