Spells: Bug reset my specialization skills

So I got this level 54 wizard. I'm at my guildmaster, and notice my conjuration specialization is at 0. "Do wizards even have a conjuration spell? Oh well, I got 230 skill points to spend... why not pop one into conjuration and max it out with 1 skill point?" (because when you put a point into a class skill it will go all the way up to your level).

Max is supposed to be 50 since I have already specialized in evocation (210 skill or whatever). However, it still pops my specialization up to 54. Next time i go to cast a spell, all my specializations are set back to skill level 1 with a message something like "you may only have 1 specialization mastery. clearing all specialization skills to level 1".

So the bug here is that being over level 50 and putting a point into the specialization skill will allow it to exceed that cap. now i gotta sit down for some hours clicking spells [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I know at some point there was a quest put in to sol tempole allowing people re-specialize their spellcasting, but I don't think it was classic. So this would be a way around that too.
