Starting over is fun as hell though. Every game that has seasonal play, it is always waaaaaay more popular than the permanent shard.
EQ is boring as hell when you have all your gear, cash and spells ready to go at level 1 and you have no reason to anything aside from grinding.
What’s weird to me is the people who are so invested in their ten year old pixel pile that they can’t enjoy how awesome a fresh server is.

Common man. It's all relative, and it's all opinion..
PVP has been a part of EQ forever. Many MANY folks grew up with PVP on EQ being their first experience, and maybe only experience? And they hold the same nostalgic feelings to taking down other players, that you do in having a full group of halflings take down a giant bat with rusty daggers..
PVE clearly has been a part of Everquest forever as well.. I for 1 spent my entire childhood stabbing stuff with rusty weapons cause i was too young to really ever understand EQ. So when i came to p99 i was looking for that end game experience, and man oh man Blue did it for me! And lots of people want that experience still, i know i still do! I still have lots of end game stuff to see!
And green- I get it, that's the easiest experience to understand and why people flock to it..
TLDR- Be open minded man, it's all about that feeling we all had as kids or young adults.
