Staff already described this. I don’t remember where, but perhaps it can be found among staff posts. Duplicate names will receive a name change, possibly Soandso to Soandsox.
Yes, some accounts will have more than 8 characters. Character slots are alphabetized. If you have more than 8, some will be down below the 8 slots. You will have to delete one or more characters to see characters further down the alphabet. Make more accounts to avoid this problem.
