Default Ubuntu tethered connection woes, proxy, pdanet, etc..

I play tethered using my tmobile cellular service, which was all fine on windows because I could use PdaNet+ to hide tether usage but this doesn't work (well) on Linux. Some other programs like EasyTether are supposed to work but I couldn't get it to, possibly the fault of my stock Xaoimi phone (it blocks some usb security stuff).

I found a reddit post on how to connect PdaNet wifi by changing some network proxy settings which makes my internets work fine BUT now p99 throws an "error timed out" when I try and login.

Go to Settings -> Network -> Network Proxy. Then pick Manual method.

Set all values (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, Socks) : 192.168.49.1 with 8000 port.

Then "Apply system wide". Connect to the wifi from pdanet+.

I assume the proxy stuff above is causing the issue with p99, I tried using middlemand but that works for all about 10 seconds then the terminal outputs "Error: 1". This does get me to "connecting to servers" at least in p99 before it says it cant connect.

ideas? or should I just go back to win10 ><

I use to use pdanet at my old house because internet was horrible. Maybe 6 months ago my internet goes out for a few days from down lines after a storm and I attempted to use pdanet on p99. I kept getting timed out connections, but I think it was with pdanet.

I would go link dead. In the app I would turn off the internet and then turn it on and would recconect instantly. Didnt matter if it was wifi or tether, same shit happened. I think cellphone carriers caught on and just throttle the shit out of your connection if you use pdanet.

sorry i use a different distro

try this but also search the forks for an updated version (i think 2.0.5 but it's been a while)

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...g_with_AziLink

i changed the keepalive to 3600 7200
if you have an Android 9 phone, you will need to allow background data, and don't optimize battery use

all of your traffic will route over tcp 127.0.0.1:41927

don't tell to many people as this is on the application layer (osi model)
since it's on the application layer your carrier can't see it as anything other than cell phone traffic
