Default Newb SK question

New to the class. Have a full set of Crusty armor and thinking to put it on a troll shadowknight. Will having lower than 0 cha affect me?

Take it off before you sell anything.

In summary CHA has little effect on a Shadowknight.

To be more specific:

The Necromancer/Shadowknight undead lull line of spells does NOT use CHA. This means you have no reason to boost CHA to improve the efficacy of your spells.

As PatChapp points out, CHA does adjust merchant prices. This is true for all classes. If you want the best merchant prices, you should unequip -CHA items first, and put on +CHA items if you have any. This does depend on what you are buying and selling. It probably isn't worth the time to do this when buying cheap items like Milk and Muffins, or selling cheap items like bat wings. This is because the merchant price adjustments are percentage based as far as I am aware. You will only see considerable improvements when dealing with expensive items.

CHA will also improve the rate at which Divine Intervention will save you. This is true for all classes. Divine Intervention is generally not used outside of raiding, so this specific benefit is very minor. This is because the spell is fairly expensive to cast, and generally not worth it outside of raiding. Even when you are raiding, Shadowknights will not typically receive Divine Intervention. By the time you start raiding, you probably will also be using better armor than Crusty.

maybe sks are an exception, but last i played my necro on p99, which was admittedly several years ago, they were just as impacted by charisma on lulls as enchanters were.

Yeah, I played a necro on green during Kunark and charisma clearly affected the undead lulls. But that's still not a reason to actually invest in the stat.

Ah maybe you are correct https://wiki.project1999.com/Rest_the_Dead the wiki says as much for Rest the Dead. For some reason I thought I had heard the opposite from Necromancers. I did use CHA gear on my SK when lulling for a little while, but didn't notice a huge difference. But Trolls do have low CHA to begin with, so maybe it was just due to that.

I may have seen the idea here: https://www.reddit.com/r/project1999..._necromancers/ . There are quite a few people who seem to think Necromancers don't use CHA. Seems like the wiki had different information then, as the quote in question is no longer on the wiki. Looks like they were using the base EQEMU code as a reference at the time.

The wiki is full of bad info,it would be interesting to see test results on necro charm and lull. Wonder if anyone has done it

I'd say just keep that crusty armor on while vendoring. Vendor doesn't like it? Tough shit. Just stink up the place
