Hey guys,

If you're running Mavericks (OS X 10.9), I invite you to give this simple setup a try:

1. Download EverQuest.zip
2. Unzip it. It becomes a .app that was created by following the steps Innova posted earlier in this thread.
3. Double-click that .app, and enjoy!

After following the numerous steps in Innova's walkthrough, I realized that we're just creating a Windows sandbox that's configured to run EQ, so once the sandbox is created, there's really no need for anyone else to have to go through the same lengthy setup. It's all self-contained and ready to run on any machine!

It's a large download, but only about 100 MB larger than the installer discs and supplementary files.

Please let me know if this works / doesn't work for you guys!

- Xertex
Thanks! It ran great on both my imac and my macbook air.

I was curious if you planned to update it with the newest changes or if there's some simple way to do it?

Default wiki?

Great guide, however, the wineskin linked to in the original post doesn't work in yosemite, so I made a new one that does.

This one works for me, running Yosemite on a 2010 macbook pro with a nvidia geforce gt 330M.
It occured to me that since these solutions usually have a pretty limited lifecycle maybe it would be nice to have the guide on a wiki page instead of in the forum. That way links and information would be easier to update.
What do you guys think, should we make a wiki-page out of the guide?

I'm playing through wineskin on yosemite and now I get an error that my spell files are outdated, but I've downloaded the newest version (v36) and changed out the files.. Not sure what i'm doing wrong... any help would be much appreciated!

Without more information it's hard to say. But it doesn't sound like a wine specific issue. Maybe try to extract the files in another location and copy them to the spells folder?

ok i'll try to extract the files again and replace them in my wine folder. I don't think it's a wine issue either--I've have this error message in the past and all it took was a reinstallation of the spell files. I believe the message is "ERRORCODE SP-1." I can't see any of my characters on the login screen and there's only one guy with the name, "unknown."

Thanks!

This is the message I'm getting. I updated the spell files again, and still no dice. Thanks!
