Default Plane of Growth: was it released with Velious?

I've seen several people mention that growthplane wasn't released with Velious launch.

Is this true?

I have found sources referring to people killing there in December 2000.

Discuss.

Hey, like it or not, this IS armor for level 55+, and the eroded pieces you're looking for drop in (among other places) Kael Drakkal off level 55+ giants. Remember, as far as we know, this is the equivalent to the stuff that people are getting in the Plane of Growth. So, to the person whining about this quest being for level 55+ folks: deal with it, and get crackin'. You've got some work to do.

Also, as far as we know, the eroded leather is no drop. Auctioning will do you no good.

If Velious did come out Dec. 5, 2000 PoGrowth appears to have been in by within a week judging by this post:

source: Galiel Spirithoof Alla page, http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=5333

That's a link to a initial thoughts on Velious post from December 8, 2000.

"While on the subject of zones, there are also two brand new Planes for the high level players to have fun in. In addition to the aforementioned Plane of Growth (where Tunare resides), there is also the Plane of Mischief where players can encounter the King of Thieves himself ¿ Bristlebane. You can access the Plane of Growth by touching a flower inside a tower in the Wakening Land. As for the Plane of Mischief, no one has found the portal yet, but word is that it will be a dollhouse-sized castle that randomly appears in two different zones. Both of these planes are good aligned so the evil players won't have to worry about going to a plane to kill one of their gods."

A little derail, but does that mean PoM is also open on launch and with 2 entry points? I thought the 2 entries were ToV and GD but that GD wasnt till later.

The gd wasn't until after luclin opened I think

Nwing was the only portal throughout velious era I believe. Or at least until pom was nerfed to useless
