Default Hahah I got killed by a wooly spiderling

After spending a weekend trying out EQ2-Extended for free...

I downloaded and logged on to Project 1999 last night.

In one of my early fights, I got killed by a wooly spiderling [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Then I attacked a skeleton, but did not notice that it was the Vengeful Lyricist wandering around everfrost [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I died.

I died a couple more times from Bear or Spider adds.I played for about 2 hours off and on and am not level 3 yet. I have like 1 gold, not all of my spells, and a few piece of cloth armor and my newbie club.

In three hours of EQ2-Extended, I had like +stats all over my equipment, I was level 15, I had been led by the nose through like 1298213 meaningless quests, fights took about 10 seconds, and I was bored out of my mind.

Yes, the original Everquest is a far different animal than the crap that is out there today. It is just more difficult, and a better game for it.

I agree, I was wondering around gfaydark proudly flaunting my nearly complete cloth armor and rusty rapier when i got jumped by an orc centurion while talking to my room mate about the game. Dieing quickly i was saddened that i was not sure where my corpse was. Well nothing was handed to me, I really wanted my gear back even tho i was only level 2 at the time, i had to.. Socialize. I met a really nice bard who helped me find my corpse and led me back to kelethin. We talked for a couple of minutes then off to my hunting i was this time a little more careful looking all about this world even at low levels is dangerous, its thrilling!

It is just more fun to actually have to pay attention to where you are fighting, and what you are fighting, and maybe your mana is running out, and if you die, where is your corpse, and eventually the exp penalty will hurt, so you will have to make friends.

... and everything isn't handed to you on a plate, and your hand isn't held all along the way.

I can't wait to try to get through Blackburrow and into the world!

I am actually excited to have looted a couple pieces of cloth armor yesterday!

Make no mistake, a LOT of players on this server have their hands (and more) held from level 1 to 50 and beyond. It's all about who you know, and who you reacharound. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Ya I see people getting power leveled all the time, taking camp spots that a whole full group would like to have. I can't fully complain though I have been handed several items myself. Green silken drape, 2 golden ear studs, hollowed bone bracers and my 39 pet spell, but that still doesn't spoil the feeling of getting your own gear it just fills in a couple needed slots.

It was only a couple months ago when I filled up my first complete set of cloth, I remember how exciting that was! Then I realized I couldn't hold enough mob loot to pay for my spells with the added stones so I sold it all to a merchant shortly after.
